Transcorp Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of Transnational Corp. of Nigeria Plc, plans to develop nuclear power plants as an alternative energy source for power generation in Nigeria. The aim is to improve access to electricity in the country.
The company intends to build Nigeria’s first nuclear power plants and will work with the federal government through the Ministry of Science and Technology.
For the Nigerian Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, this project will change the way nuclear power plants are deployed and allow the country to have a reliable and sustainable source of energy. A committee made up of representatives of Transcorp and the government was set up to better manage the execution of the project.
